Captivating: Unveiling the Mystery of a Woman's Soul
By John & Stasi Eldredge / Thomas Nelson
Every woman was once a little girl. And every little girl holds in her heart her most precious dreams. She longs to be swept up into a romance, to play an irreplaceable role in a great adventure, to be the beauty of the story. Those desires are the secret to the feminine heart. Your longings and desires are telling you of the life God created you to live. He offers to come now as the Hero of your story, to rescue your heart and release you to live as a fully alive and feminine woman.

Whatever is Pure, October 2003
Mirrored Image
I stood at the mirror
And examined the image
That was reflected to me.
With a snaggled-tooth grin
And long pony-tails, I wondered,
"What will I grow up to be?"
A few years passed
The reflection had changed
And no longer looked good to me.
Pimples on my forehead
And zits on my nose lead to
Feelings of inadequacy.
A few more years
And the image I saw
Reflecting back at me
Was hair peppered gray
And wrinkled eyes
Which were noticing
Signs of decay.
A few more years
And the mirrored image
Had slowly faded away.
Standing in the presence
Of her Most Holy King
She listened to what He would say.
"My child, the image
reflected in the mirror
was one scarred
by the standards of man.
What you failed to see
When you studied your image
Was a beautiful reflection of Me.
You studied your lines
And covered your scars
Not noticing the reflection of Christ
That covered the lines
And hid all the scars
When you invited Me into your life.
Now examine your image
And tell me what you see
When you look into
My mirrored face?"
She fell on her knees
And looked up to her Lord
For the image reflected
Was Grace.

The Dream
So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. 2 Cor 4:18
Strive to be one of the few who walk this earth with the ever-present realization that the unknown which people call heaven is directly behind those things which is visible.
Nothing can compare to what we have in our hope of heaven. It is what keeps us going no matter what the struggles we face on earth. We know in our heart that there is a heaven and we will be there one day.
Here is my favourite poem : This was written when the doctors gave me no hope at all! Thank the Lord, our hope is in Him!!!
The Dream
I dream of a place so far away,
But yet so close you can see
The peace that is upon my face.
No more tears, pain, or burdens and fears.
There is joy around us everywhere.
The grass is green and flowers are very bright.
The water is so pure and the taste is sweet.
The animals will be laying at our feet.
They will be so gentle and soft to touch.
The children, they will be playing all around.
Their laughter will be a joy to our ears.
There will be sweet music everywhere.
No out of tune voices will be heard there.
For the sound will be gentle for all to hear.
We will have work, but what a joy.
All will be strong, no weakness there.
Now I would like for you all to know.
This is not just a dream I do have.
For God made this promise long ago.
And it will all come true.
For He loves us so.

Laura suffers with chronic back pain. This poem was written in 1997, and Laura is very much with us. Her usual cheerful heart and her total dependence on the mercy of Christ is a constant inspiration to many, including myself, the editor of Whatever is Pure. Even when all around her is bleak and she goes through very rough days, her heart cry goes out to God to strengthen her so she can be a blessing to others.
